Day 6 Tasks:

Family Holiday Activity

Make  a Christmas Ornament

For a simple, kid friendly activity, I came up with this adorable ornament.  To make your own repurposed card medallion gather the following supplies:
  • Old Christmas Cards
  • Wrapping Paper
  • Self-Seal Laminating Pouches
  • Glue
  • Cookie Cutters
  • Scissors
  • Ribbon
  • Glitter, markers or extra gems for embellishments
  • Hole Punch

Have the children trace their cookie cutters onto the Christmas card and wrapping paper. If you are using cookie cutters, remember to turn the paper inside out so that the backing will match the front.  Glue the two pieces together with the card in front and the wrapping paper a beautiful backing.  Once the two pieces are dry, place between a laminating pouch and seal.  Cut around outline of the ornament making sure to leave extra laminating so the seal doesn’t break.  Hole punch the top and add a ribbon for a hanger. Glue, Staple or Tie the top of the ribbon.

Random Acts of Kindness

Give away an Ornament to a Friend or Stranger

This falls perfect in line with our family holiday activity.  I’ll have the kids make an extra ornament so they can keep one and give one away.

Workout Challenge

6 Hanging Abs

Today we add a bit of core strength into our workout with hanging abs.  Using the pull up bar, we hold steady and bring knees to the chest for 1 rep, repeating 6 times. For more core exercises to try with a pull-up bar, check out this blog posting from Redefining Strength . Don’t have a pull-up bar for hanging abs, use two chairs with arm rests or Equalizer Bars.
